Take a chance. This too shall pass – It’s a cycle!

Spring time is almost coming to an end and then there will be the advent of the long summer months. Spring brings hope and the wanting to go out and achieve things after an inward period of winter.

While the severity and duration of the hot weather is unpredictable, what is certain is that the summer will go away and the other seasons of autumn and then winter will take its due place in the wheel of time.

All things in life fall into cycles. The cycle continues in our day-to-day life too with its ups and downs, alternating with happiness and sorrow.

Similarly, businesses are also subject to cycles, sometimes different ones for its revenues and costs. Depending on the industry, the cycle may also last for different durations. Many industries currently are experiencing a hyper inflationary environment due to the rising costs of commodities even as the uncertainties continue for their sales due to the ongoing pandemic.

With surmounting pressures, organizations sometimes take short term calls like cutting investment for future growth or reducing expense on welfare of its people which can have negative impacts in the long term.

Options which consider a base case, best case and worst case scenario often offers glimpses to organizations into the future and analyze a potential problem for solutions considering changing dynamics of the external world. A good approach is to become aware of the long term impacts and then take a conscious call while revisiting assumptions to course correct.

A change should be seen as a chance for betterment. All things including the sun, moon, seasons follow their own cycles. The cyclic approach aids in reenergizing, refreshing and renewing one to be enthusiastic with hope and positivity and at the same time look at a longer rhythm of life when taking key decisions.

For individuals, it is important to stay calm when faced with challenges and look for that light of hope which one can hold on to remember, to look at a longer rhythm of life and knowing that this too shall pass.

What perspective would you like to shift in you if you rather look at your current problems as an opportunity for improvement? After all, change is inevitable.
