Majority is not always right

While democracy is hailed as the true representative of the wishes of the people, it has an inherent flaw. It is not suited to the need of each individual and hence undermines the rights of groups of people especially in the minority.

On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to overturn Roe v. Wade. This has caused uproar in various human rights forums which talk about the setback to the rights of freedom and liberty for women at large.

As a next step, many states in the United States will use existing or frame new rules around banning abortion and dealing with abortion rights.

Here again, a group of people will inflict their decision on a non confirming minority by force or rule of law.

The need to tell, direct, control and conform as per the wishes of one is the underlying root cause of the problem.

How is another to decide whether a certain decision is right or wrong for any individual?

Coaching offers a shift to this approach and offers a space for listening instead of advising to the other.

The coach further holds no judgment and considers the client’s agenda as of paramount importance.

In this way, it allows freedom of expression for each client individually and hence becomes truly democratic.

Coaching can thus be used in different walks of life – personal and professional allowing people to first embrace their own individuality and then commit themselves to actions. Doing so, they live a life of authenticity which brings them fulfillment.

If you’re seeking freedom

In a revolution,

Oh, if you’re seeking freedom,

You won’t find it there.

For once the guns stop blazing,

You’ll find it amazing

How the world can drag on

Just as before!
