Discover the Shiva in you with coaching

‘Shiva’, is a revered deity in ‘Sanatana Dharma’ (Hinduism) and is associated with prosperity achieved through increased awareness and destruction of self limiting identities. Also referred to as the ‘Adi Yogi’ or the first one, he is worshipped by many who aspire to be like him on ‘Maha Shivratri’. It is a solemn day and night meant for introspection, focus and meditation.

The roots of ‘śiva’ come from śī which means "in whom all things lie" and va which means "embodiment of grace.” I find similarities to professional coaching, wherein, the fundamental belief held by the coach is that the solution lies within each person and as this understanding develops in a client through rhythmic sessions they are able to embody their highest potential and find fulfillment.

One could say that clarity and depth of knowing about the organization, customers, competition, products, business models etc. and ability to take quick informed decisions makes a good leader. An individual is a leader of his own mind consisting of thoughts, beliefs, habits and tendencies. Like the able leader, an individual who works on knowing own self both in terms of strengths and limiting beliefs, is able to face challenging situations with finesse.

Coaching brings more awareness which allows the person to accomplish things and move forward with speed and conviction removing mental blocks along the way.

Coaching helps a person become a more effective leader who is able to carve out a unique style based on own values and strengths.

A client was going through a vicious cycle of low confidence and fear in meetings. When asked about the underlying reason of the fear, she related it as the fear of being judged by others. A deeper probing led her to uncover a lack of belief in her own self. Once aware, she was willing to take actions steps to get out of this limiting cycle.

Like the Shiva, one should become aware of that which is not required and dissolve it and use this released energy to achieve what actually is required.

What is required is to work on your belief system and discover the Shiva in oneself to achieve the latent potential. It may not result in the same success in terms of money or possessions as achieved by another, but it will surely be the fastest way to develop into who you want to be.

To know yourself and the Shiva in you, commit to a coaching journey today.
